Broken Faucet? Might Be That Time for Replacement
The faucets and sinks we find in buildings are used for different reasons. They all help to make life a little easier, and the luxury of routinely washing hands can even eliminate the presence of flu viruses.
The combination of faucets and sinks go a long way to making a standing structure a place we can actually call home.
But like all necessary appliances we have that help run our daily lives, the sinks and faucets available in modern structures can be abused and stressed more than is deemed necessary or healthy.
The end result is needed repairs or replacement of these units. However, when the function of these appliances halt water usage, then the quality of life in our buildings becomes unbearable and in need of a plumber’s assistance.
When is it Necessary to Replace My Faucet
The most immediate time to replace a faucet or sink is when either no longer works. Obvious factors for sink components that need replacement will show when water is not being drained properly. This can include water that is leaking into other parts of the house or one where water levels never subside through a sink’s plumbing system.
As for faucets, homeowners and building managers will have to look closely to the seams where water is ideally blocked from seeping out. So when excessive amounts of water is exiting out of sealed areas on a faucet—that is at its based and portions of the spout—, it is likely that a replacement is underway.
What are Some Signs of Damage
There are two major signs of damage as a result of broken seals or in-operation of a sink and faucet combination. The most apparent will be the presence of water. When wood structures adjacent to sinks become saturated with water, the wood will begin to deteriorate and show signs of degradation. Those signs appear as warped panels with moldy residue.
